Out With The Old and In With The New!

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

I love a new start! I thank God that New Year’s come and the seasons change. They each invite us into a time of renewal.  With the New Year we think about new commitments and setting goals. We anticipate the opportunity to start a new calendar, a new work-out schedule, a new out look on life, and perhaps a new focus in our direction.

What an amazing God we have that He would put newness and fresh starts into the cycle of life. That He would encourage new beginnings. Yet that’s who He is. He is a God of grace that is always extending His hand of mercy. He is a God who invites us daily to be renewed—to put off the old and put on the new. Ephesians 4:22-24 says, “Put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires, and be made new in the attitude of your minds, and to put on the new self, created to be like God, in true righteousness and holiness.”

Out with the old and in with the new! What is it that you need to put off this year? What old self…old thoughts…old grudges…old regrets…old attitudes do you need to put off?  What’s standing in your way from starting off the year fresh and renewed?

Acts 3:19 says, “Repent then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

Wiped out! I love that! No sin is too big. No sin is too ugly. No sin is too old. He says repent of it and He will WIPE IT OUT! …YAY!!!

Turn to Him and times of refreshing will come. You want a FRESH NEW YEAR then put off the OLD and put on the NEW!!! You know what that means? We don’t have to walk around in old clothes…we don’t have to walk around weighted down by the past…we got a new self to put on!

WOW! Talk about a new beginning!

Make Your Dreams Come Alive!

Monday, May 4th, 2009
“Dreaming about a thing in order to do it properly is right; but dreaming about it when we should be doing it is wrong.”  Oswald Chambers from My Utmost For His Highest

I will confess I can be a dreamer and never get anything done. I can dream about
redecorating a room starting with the paint, the bedding, and then accenting with accessories. I can dream an entire outfit together starting of course with a snazzy pair of shoes, layering several matching pieces of clothing and glitzing it up with some dangling jewelry pieces. I can dream an entire ministry program from the core to the extended outreach programs. I can dream up a book with chapter headlines and even top it off with the cover design. I AM A DREAMER! I have stacks of dreams sitting in notebooks, sketched out on scrap paper, and even entire documents of well crafted organized dreams.

Trust me when I say dreams alone don’t get you anywhere. Although, it is important to dream, without ACTION they turn into disappointments, frustrations, and sometimes heart wrenching bitterness.

It is not only important to dream but to keep dreams alive and to turn dreams into reality.
Dreams come alive when we take action! If you are waiting for inspiration…don’t! Inspiration comes after you take action. Inspiration comes through the execution of the creative process in fulfilling the dream.

I know what you are thinking, how do I take action when I too am a well-crafted dreamer?

1.    Write out your dreams. Go ahead just list every single one of them. Don’t be afraid to list those deep hidden dreams, you know the one’s you think there is no way they will happen. They may be the very ones that God wants to reveal himself through. “What is impossible with men is possible with God.” Luke 1:37

2.    Categorize your dreams and list by importance into personal, family, home, ministry and work.

3.    Dedicate your dreams to God and determine which dreams to act on through prayer and those in alignment with your purpose and gifts. Every dream you have is significant but through prayer and your defined purpose you can determine which ones need your immediate attention. “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psa 37:4

4.    List the WHY out beside each dream. Clarifying the why is what motivates you to persevere when your dreams seem impossible. Remember, dreams only turn into reality after you have followed through to completion. “You cannot stop until you have delivered everything God has implanted in you.”  ~Shannon Ethridge/Completely His

5.    Share your dreams with God and a few trusted people. Sharing and writing down your dreams gives them life and you accountability.

6.    Pick your top three dreams and make a plan of action to see each dream fulfilled.

7.    Celebrate when you successfully experience your dream come alive!

Dreams come alive when we take action but dreams also keep us alive through the hope of seeing them fulfilled. “Who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psa 103:5

What dream would you like to see come alive?

Greetings from Peggy,

Over the next few weeks I will participate in a few blog tours (3 actually). I thought this would be a nice way to share something different with you and also expand your knowledge of some new books that are just being released. I have picked three books that are each totally different so hopefully you will find something that sparks your interest.

This first book Step Into Your Future is one that I personally found beneficial. If you have a small business/ministry or if you are considering starting one then this is a book you will want to read.

I hope you will find this interview informative and to your liking.

Step Into Your Future: A Businesswoman’s Path to Profits shows how to make success a process by author Rosemary Regier-Hossenlopp.

What specific incident inspired you to gather together this information and put together a book?

Rosemary: Let’s face it, being a Small Business Owner is HARD. You don’t have time to focus. You’re stressed and you rush around. You’re all over the place; catching planes, picking up kids and completing proposals and contracts. And it seems like you’re doing this all at once. You’re lost in the trees and blind to the forest.

Rosemary: The heart of success is figuring out what gets you the best results. You hear about business planning techniques that can help you focus on getting the business results you want. But you procrastinate in implementing them. I know this because I have been there too. It is overwhelming when you need to be the plumber, the accountant, the salesman and the person who delivers the goods.  It is hard to make the time to work “on” the business and not work “in” the business. More planning advice is available at www.StepIntoYourFuture.com

What’s the story behind the book’s title?
Rosemary:  I feel so good when I work with other business owners to help them understand how to tame the things that steal your time. The great thing is that when you focus and produce results, you get to share your story of your products and services with everybody. You meet people who help you connect with others. You play a bigger game. People will recognize your name. You enjoy life. Your sphere of influence grows. You get more opportunities to create alliances with people that you now only dream about.

Book Summary
